SAG Flag Roof Monitor W/ Adapter

You’ve got questions, we’ve got answers.
What is the HOBO MX1105 4-Channel Analog Data Logger, and how is it used with the SMI Sag Flag or Miner’s Helper Extensometer?

The HOBO MX1105 is a Bluetooth-enabled, wireless data logger with four analog input channels that measure voltage (0–2.5 V DC) and transmit data to a mobile device or Windows computer. When used with the SMI Sag Flag or Miner’s Helper Extensometer (MHL), it logs voltage outputs from sensors attached to these instruments, which are then scaled to measure linear movement (e.g., roof sag or rock strata separation) in mining environments.

How does the MX1105 measure movement from the Sag Flag or MHL?

The Sag Flag or MHL is paired with a sensor that works well with the data logger. The MX1105 logs this voltage, and you can use Onset’s free HOBOconnect app or HOBOware software to scale the voltage readings to linear movement (e.g., millimeters or inches) based on the sensor’s calibration curve. Each sensor is scaled before being shipped by SMI.

What are the key features of the MX1105 for monitoring Sag Flag or MHL movement?

• Four Analog Inputs: Connect up to four Sag Flag or MHL sensors to monitor multiple points simultaneously.
• Voltage Range: Measures 0–2.5 V DC with ±0.3 mV ±0.3% accuracy, suitable for most displacement sensors.
• Bluetooth Connectivity: Wirelessly configure and download data using the HOBOconnect app within a 100-foot range.
• LCD Alarms: Audible and visual alarms alert if a sensor disconnects or movement exceeds set thresholds.

What sensors are compatible with the MX1105 for measuring Sag Flag or MHL movement?

The MX1105 supports sensors with 0–30 V DC output, such as linear displacement transducers or potentiometers that convert the mechanical movement of the Sag Flag or MHL into voltage. Ensure the sensor’s cable has integrated strain relief for secure connection. Contact sales@minershelpers.com for recommended sensors.
